Design & Construction Management

Design Management

Our services to our clients include administrative management of design on major projects. We are not an engineering company and do not provide technical engineering management. What we do is ensure that stakeholder input is factored in design management processes in a timely and effective manner. We ensure that design change management is a structured and methodical process, design-to-budget is done effectively in collaboration between design management team and the estimating team, that value engineering initiatives tie into the risk register as a major mitigation mechanism.  We facilitate a lessons learned process that analyzes successes and failures so teams can learn valuable lessons and become more effective.

Interface Management

In projects with multiple independent contracts (as opposed to all contracts under one “Project Co”), effective and methodical commercial interface management, design interface management, and construction interface management are make-or-break for the project. Further, projects that have a combination of delivery models such as design-build, bid-build, CMGC/CMAR need to have a robust interface management program to avoid gaps and duplications.

At Sperovia we have extensive experience in both of the abovementioned scenarios. Our team can assist our clients in reviewing or designing their multi-contracting or multi-delivery strategy and provide feedback in terms of what works, what doesn’t, risks and mitigations, in the context of commercial, technical and construction interface management.

Construction Management

During the construction phase, Sperovia can provide resources to supplement our clients’ team to perform construction management services for civil components, specifically underground, elevated or at-grade stations for transit projects, grading work, concrete work and structures.

Several members of our team have significant boots on the ground experience in construction management of major scopes on some of the largest projects in North America.
